For some time now, the Baltiklaas sales department has looked into the best ways to introduce itself to architects and designers. As designers and architects largely determine what sort of material is used in their projects, it is important for them to be familiar with our products and know what kinds of solutions we’re able to offer.

In cooperation with Polish colleagues, Baltiklaas examined, calculated and deliberated on the most suitable time and place to invite architects to a glass-themed seminar at the Tartu Construction Fair. No sooner said than done – as the Polish team had promised to send life-size samples, it seemed a good idea to not just hold a seminar but also set up our own fair booth and demonstrate our products to trade fair visitors.

Our customers also became better informed – many probably hadn’t seen certain products for themselves.

As the fair booth was located in the design hall, we had to think carefully about what to display – after all, an ordinary glass window unit might not be the thing that would wow people. In cooperation with the Poles and Lasita Aken, the following products were selected for display at the fair booth:

  • Priva-Lite – laminated glass with a liquid crystal interlayer, which goes from translucent to transparent when an electric current is passed through it without any change in light transmission. LC-film, initially opaque, becomes transparent in an instant.
  • Müraboks - a noise-proof box produced from Lasita Aken frames and which uses triple-glazed glass units with noise-dampening Stadip Silence laminate
  • EGLAS - an invisible heating solution that prevents condensation, melts snow and adds comfort. The product is produced as a laminate and as double- and triple-glazed glass units
  • MicroShade - MicroShade is a passive membrane that is incorporated into a double- or triple-glazed window unit to ensure optimum shielding of sunlight. MicroShade is made up of 0.2-mm-thick steel ribs that cover the entire area of the glass. The microperforations in the covering allow sunlight to penetrate, while blocking solar energy.
  • SageGlass – a dynamic, electronically darkening product that allows homeowners and other users to keep natural light and heat from the sun under control. The SageGlass product line includes standard double and triple glazed glass units in different shapes and sizes and colour tones.
  • The Pellini glass window with integrated venetian blinds, SCREENLINE – venetian blinds, folding or roll-up shades are incorporated between two panes of the glass unit. When the shades are moved - manually or using motorized control – it has no effect on the hermetic properties of the glass unit as it all takes place in a fully enclosed system. The unique properties of SCREENLINE ensure complete protection against soiling, dust and the elements and the window shades are maintenance-free.
  • VIEWGLASS - VIEWGLASS is laminated glass with a transparent printed PET interlayer VIEWGLASS aims to boost the use of artworks in buildings.

The fair itself went well. Visitors stopped and gave our interesting products a look, and a number of them had questions and took reading material with them. It’s unlikely that private customers will contact us with queries about such specialty products, but since every piece of glass needs a frame, installation and configuration, raising awareness among end customers is a very important aspect – as a result, people know what to ask for instead of a typical double- or triple-glazed unit. Our own clients also increased their knowledge level as they probably had not seen some of the products before in real life.

“From 1666, we began making mirrors as beautiful as those made in Venice and that supplied the whole of Europe and they were to become of a beauty and grandeur that has never been achieved elsewhere”
